| dae jang geum - jewel in the palace: ep 70 (the conclusion) |
| 02.28.05 (9:55 pm) [edit] |
|
here is finally the end, ppl of dae jang geum...now i can concentrate on my studies..lol...will miss this show...wasn't jang geum's daughter so adorable!!
Dae jang geum - jewel in the palace: ep 70 (the conclusion)
Jang Geum and Jung Ho were running away from the palace after the king advised them to. The king was really sick at this point and was going to dies soon. When Jang Geum and Jung Ho were going to board a boat, Jang Geum suddenly said that she couldn’t leave. She had to go back to the palace because she was responsible to save the king. But then the guard escorting them said that the king had ordered them to run away. Jang Geum wanted to go back and so Jung Ho followed her.
When they got to the village, the villagers were all very sad and were talking about the king. Jang Geum found out that the king had died. She refused to believe it and wanted to go back to the palace but Jung Ho dragged her away because the palace officials were after them.
8 years later, a little girl appears and shows her dad something. Her dad is Jung Ho and he is dressed in normal villager clothes and he smiles to her daughter, Xiao Xian. Then suddenly, Jang Geum appears and tells Xiao Xian to come with her. She follows obediently. In their room, Jang Geum tells Xiao Xian to lift up her skirt before hitting her legs with a cane. Jang Geum scolds her about playing with the other children at the lake. Jung Ho comes in and drags Xiao Xian away.
Jung Ho tells her that she should listen to her mother. She’s only doing this because she loves you and doesn’t want you to get hurt. Xiao Xian then says that she knows and that she won’t reveal their secret to anyone. Jung Ho tells her that her mother wants a happy life for her and she made a mistake once that.. …caused her grandparents death, Xiao Xian continues. She said that she would be better now.
Later, Xiao Xian went to Jang Geum and after seeing that she was smiling, smiled back and started talking. She asked her mum why doesn’t fish have eyelids. And how do they sleep if they don’t? Jang Geum said that she was also wondering about that and wanted to do an experiment. Suddenly, a villager came and called her because there was a woman in pregnancy and she was in a dangerous state.
Later, Xiao Xian was running when she met Dejiu. He asked her whether there was a doctor living in the village. Xiao Xian quickly said no but showed him the way to the village. She was going to leave when he said to himself, what a smart girl she is. Xiao Xian came back and said that her parents raised her well.
Xiao Xian came rushing to her Jung Ho and told him that some guards were looking for Jang Geum. They quickly packed their stuff.
Meanwhile, Jang Geum was trying to convince the villagers to let her cut open the pregnant woman so that she could get the baby out. The villagers were appalled at this idea and wanted to send her to the palace. Jung Ho distracted the villagers and then took Jang Geum with Xiao Xian and ran.
The guards were chasing after them but they managed to get away from them. Dejiu could see them running but didn’t call out to them because he was scared it would alert the guards.
Later, Dejiu tells his wife, Jang De and the supervisor about Jang Geum. He tells them that she was alive and still helping people. She even had a daughter now. They were all very excited and happy to know that she was alive.
After that, Lian Shen gets the news and decided to appeal to the queen to restore Jang Geum and Jung Ho’s name. She was very afraid that the queen would get mad but then she said shockingly whether Lian Shen knew if they were alive or not. The queen didn’t know if they were even alive and wanted to bring them back to the palace.
Meanwhile, Jang Geum and Jung Ho were finally caught by the guards. Xiao Xian went down on her knees and begged them to let her parents go. They were good people. But then a guard came and apologized for surprising them like that. They actually wanted them to come back to the palace and had a carriage ready. Jang Geum and family smiled in relief.
When they reached the palace, Jung Ho was once again in his official uniform and Jang Geum was in her doctor uniform. They went inside and Xiao Xian was amazed to see the people inside the palace. Jang Geum saw all her old friends and smiled to them. When the queen came, Jang Geum and Jung Ho bowed. The queen smiled and apologized for letting them suffer for eight years. The queen announced that she would restore their titles as Officer Min Jung Ho and the Great Jang Geum, the king’s official doctor.
Later, Jang Geum and family went to visit their old friends and family. Dejiu was delighted to see that Xiao Xian was his granddaughter and they all said that she was very intelligent, just like her mum. Jang Geum also talked with Jang De about all the illnesses and disease that she encountered in the outside world.
Later on, Jang Geum told Jung Ho that the queen wanted her to stay in the palace. Jung Ho also said that they wanted him to continue working in the palace. They didn’t know what to do.
Finally, Jang Geum decided to leave the palace. The queen was reluctant to let her go but Jang Geum said that she had seen more diseases in the outside world and wanted to continue helping the villagers.
As they left the palace, Jang Geum told Jung Ho that she had been very happy at the palace but she had also been very sad. It seemed like though the palace could give her everything, it could also take away everything, like her mother and s. Han. She had already became a cook and a doctor, so she could finally leave the palace in peace. Jung Ho told her that he would support her with everything she did, but begged her not to try cutting up people. The country wasn’t ready for that idea yet. Jang Geum refused to stop.
They suddenly noticed that Xiao Xian was missing. As they were looking for her, she came and said that there was trouble. She brought them to a cave where a woman was giving birth. The woman fainted and Jang Geum checked her and said that she and the baby was in danger. She needed to get the baby out quickly. Jang Geum told Jung Ho that the only way was to cut her up and Jung Ho finally said yes.
Jang Geum got her tools ready while Jung Ho and Xiao Xian went to get water. When they came back, they could hear the sound of a baby crying. They rushed back to the cave and Jang Geum was holding the baby. Jang Geum smiled and said that both the baby and the mother was fine. She told Jung Ho that she knew this way would work and asked him why she opposed her. She had finally proved her theory. The three of them huddled together and smiled. This is the story about a woman who could do anything, and never gave up.
THE END

| sepet, promoting the malaysian movie |
| 02.25.05 (1:54 pm) [edit] |
|

The story tells of a 19-year old Ah Loong who is in charge of a stall selling pirated vcd's. Contrary to what you might expect someone of his social standing to be, Ah Loong is an incurable romantic with an unlikely hobby - he loves to read and write poetry. Quite content to carry on being the Romeo of the slums, Ah Loong's life takes a sudden turn one day when a 16-year old Malay schoolgirl arrives at his stall in search of Wong Kar-Wai's films.
This film was written and directed by Yasmin Ahmad. For those of you who have no idea who she is like i did, Yasmin is actually the woman who made all those touching petronas ads and most recently the ad about that guy who wouldn't give up his seat on the train and then felt guilty when a blind man helped him take his stuff. I haven't seen this movie but I'm very keen and excited to watch it. This film is not totally focused on racial issues from what i heard and it looks different from the other malaysian movies that are out. Maybe because it has a mixture of chinese and malay inside it.
anyway, if you guys wanna watch the trailer, don't go to the official site cos that one is so freaking slow!! you can watch the trailer here: http://www.hafiz.thesiebzehn.de/archives/2005/01/quick _publicity_1.php" title="http://www.hafiz.thesiebzehn.de/archives/2005/01/quick _publicity_1.php" target="_blank"http://www.hafiz.thesiebzehn.... which is so much faster. And also you guys should visit Yasmin Ahmad's blog at http://yasminthestorytell er.blogspot.com/" title="http://yasminthestorytell er.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"http://yasminthestorytell er.b... cos her blog is really interesting to read. She's a very intelligent and observant person and writes freely with her heart. You can also read about her fight with the censorship board over sepet if you go back to her later posts.
anyways, so m'sian ppl, go watch sepet! it's bound to be a good movie. i mean, i don't usually go to watch malaysian movies...in fact, i don't think i've ever watched a malaysian movie before...gasp...lol, not one movie ever seemed to hold my interest. but this one does. it's actually got good reviews so far. and it's already been shown in a few film festivals outside of m'sia. so, go watch it. support local industry (only if it's good). lol. and here's the official site if you want more info: http://www.sepet.com.my" title="http://www.sepet.com.my" target="_blank"http://www.sepet.com.my

| cny party |
| 02.12.05 (9:41 am) [edit] |
|
i went to my friend's open house tonight. it was like, finally, a party i actually enjoyed going to. i went to a few parties this week, relatives or my dad's friends and got visited by more relatives and didn't really enjoy any of them. i'm not really close to my relatives, i don't know why but i always seem to have trouble fitting in.
but at my friend's house, it felt good and comfortable. and she has the cutest lil doggie. a terrier, i think. not too sure but it's those small dogs. it's like that dog in The Lady and the Tramp, the scene at the end where the puppy is biting off the dog's shirt and it's coming out..yea, the dog with the shirt coming off is the one. aww, it was so cute and so well behaved. seriously. her dog can actually sleep in her room and actually goes to the right place to pee and doesn't smell. and it's SO friendly. my dog on the other hand, is not even allowed in the house cos he'll pee everywhere and he stinks and well, he is friendly..once you get to know him. but her doggie is SO adorable and she was carrying it like a baby. it was real cute.
anyway, my whole set of friends came so we had a great time, laughing and talking. i think we were pretty loud, we were just laughing the whole time. it was great just to have this party before school starts on monday. we had the usual food you would have at a typical malaysian party - friend mee hoon, curry chicken, wantan, briyani rice or izit kunyit?, yam cake, bla bla - and after that, we had bbq! and there were just a lot of chicken wings to finish. my parents came a bit early so didn't have time to talk much. but it was definitely loads of fun.

| new head banner!! |
| 02.10.05 (8:05 am) [edit] |
|
just made a new head banner featuring ross & rachel from friends. hehe...i've gotten a lil bit obsessed about them recently. i've been watching too much friends. the only thing is i havent seen the last season yet. they refuse to show it on tv. so...gonna have to download the eps.. don't ya just love those two?...they're like the forever soulmates and even though they've been going round in circles for 10 years, you'll always root for them cos they belong together...and it's so nice to see a happy ending for those two!
i absolutely love the banner. though pink doesn't go with green, i'm too lazy to change the entire layout to red so i'll just leave the mixed colours alone. i am far too lazy.

| Lost, the show |
| 02.08.05 (9:13 am) [edit] |
|
& nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp;
i read an article about Lost, the tv show and it held a lot of praises for it so i was quite interested to watch this show...just watched the first ep..here's the storyline:
[From J.J. Abrams, the creator of Alias, and Damon Lindelof (Crossing Jordan) comes an action-packed adventure that will bring out the very best and the very worst in the people who are lost.
Out of the blackness, the first thing Jack (Matthew Fox, Party of Five) senses is pain. Then burning sun. A Bamboo forest. Smoke. Screams. With a rush comes the horrible awareness that the plane he was on tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a Pacific island. From there it's a blur, as his doctor's instinct kicks in: people need his help.
Stripped of everything, the 48 survivors scavenge what they can from the plane for their survival. Some panic. Some pin their hopes on rescue. A few find inner strength they never knew they had — like Kate (Evangeline Lilly), who, with no medical training, suddenly finds herself suturing the doctor's wounds. Hurley (Jorge Garcia) — a man with a warm sense of humor despite the desperate situation — does his best to keep his cool as he helps those around him to survive. Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) is a faded rock star who harbors a painful secret. Sayid (Naveen Andrews) is a Middle Eastern man who must wrestle with the racial profiling directed at him by some of his fellow survivors. Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) and Sun (Yunjin Kim) are a Korean couple whose traditions, values and language are foreign and thus causes much to get lost in the translation. Sawyer (Josh Holloway) has an air of danger surrounding him, and his intense sense of mistrust for everyone around him could prove to be fatal to his fellow castaways. Michael (Harold Perrineau) has just gained custody of his nine-year-old son, Walt (Malcolm David Kelley), after the death of his ex-wife — they are a father and son who don't even know each other. Locke (Terry O'Quinn) is a mysterious man who keeps to himself, and who harbors a deeper connection to the island than any of the others. And self-centered Shannon (Maggie Grace) — who actually gives herself a pedicure amid the chaos — and her estranged controlling brother, Boone (Ian Somerhalder) — constantly bicker and must learn to get along if they are to survive.
The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But the island holds many secrets, including the intense howls of the mysterious creatures stalking the jungle, which fill them all with fear. Fortunately, thanks to the calm leadership of quick-thinking Jack and level-headed Kate, they have hope. But even heroes have secrets, as the survivors will come to learn. ]
...or if you're too lazy to read that, it's basically about these people who were stranded on an island because their plane crashed..and on the island, there are some really freaky unknown predator monster things...
i knew most of the storyline but was quite shocked to see the show suddenly becoming a horror movie...it was really scary...and i don't even know what the moster is...they just showed the trees being torn down like sand castle and everybody was wondering what the hell that was...and the pilot was trying to see what it was when something grabbed him and then you could see blood on the windshield...and then his body was seen later, bloodied and destroyed...it was so frightening...
a very intriguing show from the looks of the first ep...and also very mysterious..from the sypnosis u can tell there's like all these secrets everybody has...i'm definitely gonna continue watching this show...

Dae jang geum - jewel in the palace: ep 38
Jang Geum asked a villager where she could get natural water and he said it was up at the mountains. So, Jang Geum went to the mountains to get clean water. When she came back down, she bumped into Jung Ho who was spying on the guards and the people. They were building something but Jung Ho didn’t know what. The guard noticed them and told them that they were building a lake of clean water.
Later, Jang De explained to them that she wanted to build a lake with clean water for the poor people so that they won’t get sick. Jang Geum still didn’t trust her but later, she accompanies Jang De to heal some prisoners. She was not actually allowed to offer medicine to the prisoners so she was always caught by the guards and locked up in the barn. Jang Geum realized that she was actually a good person and that she just couldn’t afford to give medicine to everybody.
Afterwards, Jang De was invited to go to the palace to become a doctor there. She declined it and said that she would rather stay at Jeju Island. The guards told Jang Geum that she was always invited to go to the palace but she always declined. Jang Geum asked why and the guards said that because all the famous doctors were always invited to the palace. And Jang Geum suddenly got an idea!
She ran off to find Jung Ho and told him that she’s going to become a doctor so that she can go back to the palace. Jung Ho smiled and said it was a wonderful idea.
Then, Jang Geum went to find Jang De and begged her to teach her medicine. She agreed to teach her. The other workers were angry and asked why was she chosen when they had worked there for 5 years? Jang De told them that Jang Geum was the only one who knew the herbs and knows what it’s for. The rest only knows to make medicine without understanding what it’s for. Jang De taught her how to look at faces and determine what sickness they had. Jang Geum was memorizing it but had to look at faces to do it. She tried looking at people but they were all angry that she was looking at them. Jang Geum didn’t know what to do when Jung Ho came and asked her what was wrong. She told him her problem.
Jung Ho instructed his guards that Jang Geum would be studying their faces for her medicine studies and that they should all co-operate. Later, Jung Ho and Jang Geum went to the cliff side and he asked her why she didn’t study his face. She obliged him and looked at his face. She told him that his face was red so he was having slight fever. They looked at each other and was suddenly embarrassed. He took her hands and held it. She became shy and excused herself and ran off. He watched her go with a smile.
Afterwards, Jang De brought Jang Geum to check some patients’ faces. She was very accurate and later Jang De gave her more books to study and read.
Back at the palace, the king had noticed Lian Shen and she was looking very sad. He tried asking her what was wrong but she didn’t dare answer him. The king called her to his room and he tried talking to her but she didn’t speak.
Meanwhile, Jin Ying was teaching her new apprentice. S. Choi was angry at her because she was teaching using kh. Han and Jang Geum’s way of cooking. Jing Ying said that kh. Han had won the competition so their cooking ways were better but s. Choi argued with her, saying that she was the one in the position now so who won? Jin Ying replied that if they had just cooked better, they wouldn’t have to resort to doing evil to get the kitchen head position.
The next morning, Lian Shen was announced as the king’s concubine and is now in a higher position than the cooks. The supervisors were quite shocked. And we stop there.

Dae jang geum - jewel in the palace: ep 37
In the end, Jang Geum decided to stay at Jeju Island because she remembered kh. Han’s words to not cry and never give up. Jung Ho saw her sitting at the cliff and brought her back to the guards.
The guards tied her and Jung Ho up. The guards punished her again but Jung Ho said that she should be forgiven since she had come back. An officer came by and told the guards that Jung Ho was actually an officer from the palace. They quickly untied him and apologized. They enquired what they were gonna do with Jang Geum when Jang De came and said that she would take care of her.
Jang De was actually a doctor. Jang Geum didn’t like her very much and always refused to do her orders. But then, she remembered kh. Han’s words that it didn’t matter who orders you to do it, as long as you are helping people. Jung Ho came to visit her but since she was a slave now, she refused to look him in the eye. Jung Ho asked her to look at him but she wouldn’t until he said that he had found the sulfur formula she was looking for. After that, her whole face lighted up.
Later, Jang Geum was accompanying Jang De to check on a child. The child was sick but because the father didn’t have any money, Jang De couldn’t give him medicine. Jang Geum was angry at Jang De because doctors were supposed to heal people, regardless of getting paid or not. But then Jang De said she couldn’t help everyone without any money. Jang Geum asked what medicine it was and Jang De showed her. Jang Geum went to borrow money from Jung Ho and promised him that she would pay him back when she gets her salary. She went to buy the medicine and gave it to the father. The father thanked her. The medicine was supposed to mixed with clean water but all the father had was salty water. Jang Geum said salt water would make the child worse and they had to get natural clean water. The father said that clean water was hard to get here.
Jang Geum went to ask for water from the guards. When they asked what it was for, Jang Geum told them it was for a child of a slave. They said water was rare here and they didn’t want to waste it on a slave. Jang Geum begged him but he pushed her off. And we stop there.

So, Jung Ho was very sad that he didn't get to catch up with Jang Geum. He went to see Dejiu but was scolded by Dejiu's wife because he didn't help save Jang Geum. They finally told him that Jang Geum was the one who saved him, the one who lost her pen brush. Jung Ho was baffled and shocked. He left and wandered around aimlessly.
At the palace, s. Choi heard that kh. Han had passed away and was a bit sad. Lian Shen tried telling everyone that she had bought the duck with Jang Geum and so they should send her to the palace too but no one listened to her. Lian Shen cried and said that without kh. Han, Jang Geum would be very lonely.
Meanwhile, Jang Geum was on Jeju Island and had already tried to run away two times. The guards were already frustrated with her and warned her not to run away again or else she'll be sent to the farm. They locked her up in a room. There was also another woman in there too. Jang Geum noticed the other woman and asked her if she wanted to run away with her too. The woman told her to give up but Jang Geum said that she would run away even if it cost her her life. The woman realized her seriousness and introduced herself as Jang De. She said she had a plan.
The guards came to check on Jang Geum and Jang De because they were knocking on the door noisily. Jang De told the guards that Jang Geum had smallpox and that it was contagious so they had better take her out of the room. The guards dragged Jang Geum out and brought her to a small hut to rest. When Jang Geum saw that the guard was asleep, she quickly snuck out and ran.
The guard later woke up and realized that Jang Geum was gone. Jang Geum was headed towards the sea side as instructed by Jang De, and approached a tent. But then she realized that the tent also had guards so she ran away, with the guards chasing her.
Meanwhile, Jung Ho had come to Jeju Island, hoping to find Jang Geum. He noticed someone being chased by guards on the beach but didn't realize that it was Jang Geum. She was captured again and brought back.
Jung Ho went to ask the guards if Jang Geum was there and the guards said yes. Jung Ho quickly asked if he could see her but the guard said that she had already tried to run away a lot of times so he couldn't let anyone see her.
Later, Jang Geum was being sent to the farm to work. She bumped into Jang De on the way and asked her why did she lie to her about going to the beach? Jang De replied that she needed to break her spirit first. Jang Geum said that she'll never give up. After Jang De left, the other slaves said that Jang Geum shouldn't talk so rudely to her. Jang Geum asked 'why? isn't she a slave?' and the others told her that she was actually close to the officers and of high rank.
Meanwhile, Jung Ho wanted to give a letter to Jang Geum but they told her that she had gone to the farm so Jung Ho went there.
When Jang Geum was at the farm, she let the horses go and ran away when the guards were busy catching the horses. She was being chased by the guards and almost got caught when Jung Ho took her hand and dragged her away. She saw that it was him and smiled.
They managed to get away and hid in a cave. Jang Geum noticed that Jung Ho's leg was hurt and quickly tore her dress cloth and bandaged his leg. Jung Ho was touched and told her that he knew that she was the one that saved him. He might have forgotten her face, but he remembers the feeling. They looked at each other and didn't say anything. Jung Ho said to her that a boat would be there at sunrise if she wanted to go but he begged her to stay until he found a way to bring her back. Jang Geum told him that kh. Han had passed away. Before she died, kh. Han had told her that she would be waiting at the palace so Jang Geum had to get back to the palace. She couldn't stay at Jeju Island no matter what. Jung Ho understood and so they waited there until sunrise. They said goodbye to each other and he watched her go sadly. And we stop there.

Dae jang geum - jewel in the palace: ep 35
The guards tortured kh. Han, Jang Geum and the duck seller. The duck seller couldn’t stand it anymore and admitted that he tried to poison the king. He simply said that he got orders from kh. Han. Kh. Han decided to admit that she tried to kill the king but begged the guards to let Jang Geum go because she didn’t know anything.
They brought kh. Han back to prison. S. Choi went to see her and told her that this was her punishment for defying her. She told kh. Han to go now because she didn’t want to have to kill her. Kh. Han begged s. Choi to let Jang Geum go but s. Choi didn’t answer her and left.
The duck seller was sentenced to death. Kh. Han and Jang Geum were punished to be slaves and banished to Jeju Island. They were expecting to be sentenced to death so they were thankful when they were sent to be slaves.
Kh. Han and Jang Geum were going to Jeju Island. Lian Shen cried and wanted to follow Jang Geum but Jang Geum told her that she would be back. Kh. Han was becoming weak and couldn’t walk anymore so Jang Geum carried her on the back. Jang Geum kept talking to kh. Han to keep her awake but kh. Han died. They buried her on the way there. Jang Geum didn’t want to leave kh. Han’s grave and worried that she would be alone.
Meanwhile, Jung Ho begged the head guard to let him go. They decided to untie him and let him go. As soon as he was free, Jung Ho went to ask about Jang Geum. He found out they were sent to Jeju Island and he quickly got on a horse to rush to the jetty.
Unfortunately, by the time he got there, Jang Geum was already on the boat and heading to Jeju Island.

Dae jang geum - jewel in the palace: ep 34
The guards department were saying that the ducks made your body stronger and the doctors were saying that the ducks were poisonous. So, they decided to ask kh. Han and Jang Geum to cook the duck again, using the same ingredients from last time.
Meanwhile, Linglu asked another maid to go to the kitchen to see the kitchen supervisor. The maids were actually not allowed to go in but Linglu bribed her with abalone.
So, after kh. Han and Jang Geum finished cooking, they wanted to test it but couldn’t decide who should test it since they were all involved. They wanted the door guard to try it but then he was associated with s. Choi. When the maid came in, they decided to try it on her. Lian Shen cried out not to let her try but then they decided to let her try anyway.
Later, outside, Lian Shen told her friend that they shouldn’t have asked that maid to try it because she was cousin to Linglu.
Meanwhile, s. Choi and her brother found out that Jung Ho was involved and wanted to accuse him of conspiring with kh. Han and Jang Geum. But then, Jin Ying told them to leave Jung Ho alone. They asked why, and she admitted that she loved him. They asked her if he was more important than the family name and she said yes.
After that, the maid who ate the duck became sick. It was actually Linglu who poisoned the maid when she gave her the abalone. The door guard was also poisoned too. Kh. Han and Jang Geum were locked up in the prison. Jang Geum asked her if she was ok and kh. Han replied that she felt no pain, no sadness, no loneliness with Jang Geum there with her. Jang Geum said that once she gets out, she’ll cook lots of delicious things for her.
Meanwhile, Jung Ho was tied up by the head guard because he didn’t want Jung Ho to be involved with the kh. Han investigation. It would only cause trouble for the guards department. And we stop there.

Kh. Han brought Jang Geum to a place and said that that was where her mother used to live before she became a palace maid. Her grandfather had to send Jang Geum's mum to work as a maid at the palace because he didn't have enough money. Her mum would send home rice but he would never eat it because he was too ashamed.
On their way back, they were suddenly attacked by a man who was sent by s. Choi's brother. Luckily, they were saved by a guard who was sent by Min Jung Ho.
After that, the king felt better after bathing in the hot spring. But later, the king fainted. The doctors were accused since he ate some medicine before he fainted. s. Choi got the news and wrote a letter to her brother and told him of her plan. S. Choi's brother manipulated the doctors into accusing kh. Han. So, kh. Han was arrested and questioned about the ducks she had bought. Kh. Han said that the ducks were of high quality and she knows since she was from that village. They told her she would be detained untill she was proven innocent.
Later, they brought Jang Geum and went to investigate. They asked the villagers and they all said the duck was good quality and wasn't poisonous. But then, they discover that the ducks had been drinking poisonous water. The duck seller told them that the ducks always drank that water but they were still fine.
Meanwhile, Dejiu went to Jung Ho for help to investigate. They asked the duck seller and he said that the water that the ducks drank was poisonous but the poison would disappear in the duck's stomach so when humans ate the duck, they would become stronger. Even though that was so, the duck seller was still arrested by the guards and Jang Geum was also arrested.
So, S. Choi had to become the temporary kitchen head since kh. Han was detained. She said she would not go back until she had taken care of the kh. Han matter herself. And we stop there.

Dae jang geum - jewel in the palace: ep 32
Jang Geum came back to the kitchen and asked the supervisor whose pot of vinegar it was and she told her it was kh. Han’s. Jang Geum ran off in search of her.
Kh. Han was going to the place where her friend had planted the pot of vinegar. She dug it up again and found the letter Jang Geum had written. She ran off in search of Jang Geum.
They both met and confirmed what they knew. The best friend that kh. Han was missing was the mother of Jang Geum. They were both happy and kh. Han began to drag Jang Geum to places and told her what memories lie there. Later, kh. Han asked what happened to Jang Geum’s mum and Jang Geum told her that they were ambushed and her mum had died, shot by an arrow. Kh. Han told her that it was actually s. Choi who had caused her mum to get murdered. Kh. Han took out the recipe book and Jang Geum was happy to see that she had found it. Jang Geum said that she had some proof of what happened and brought her to a spot where she had hidden her mother’s letter. But the letter was actually already stolen by Linglu and given to s. Choi.
Kh. Han went to question Linglu but she acted like she didn’t know a thing. Kh. Han realized she shouldn’t have revealed that she knew what the recipe book was. She ordered s. Choi, Jin Ying and Linglu to be sent to the ‘tai-ping’ department, the same place where Jang Geum was sent to last time she was punished. They had no choice but to follow her orders.
Kh. Han said that it would be dangerous if s. Choi knew that they had already found out her secret. Kh. Han knew one person who could help them avenge Jang Geum’s mum’s death and that person was Jung Ho. Jang Geum went to ask Dejiu if he knew where Jung Ho was since he had transferred somewhere else but Dejiu revealed that he had not left yet.
So, Jang Geum went to see Dejiu and then told him of her identity. She asked him if he could find out what happened to her dad and he said that he would. Jung Ho said that she was such a strong person. Jang Geum smiled and said she wasn’t strong. But then Jung Ho looked into her eyes and said that from now on, he wanted to share her pain, her happiness.
Later, Dejiu went to see Jung Ho and he noticed the pen brush Jung Ho was having. He asked him if he had found the girl who saved him yet and Jung Ho replied that he still haven’t found her. Dejiu kept the pen brush and said, ‘Leave it up to me.’
After that, Jung Ho went to see Jang Geum and told her that he couldn’t find out about her dad because some of the criminal record books were burnt. Jang Geum thanked him for his efforts.
Later, Lian Shen and another maid went to visit Jing Ying and Linglu to see how they were doing. Lian Shen said that the king would be going out of the palace to the river to bathe so half the maids would be going with him. Linglu burst into tears because she couldn’t go with them. Jin Ying went to tell s. Choi that Jang Geum and kh. Han would be out of the palace.
The king was actually a bit sick so kh. Han had to prepare necessary food for him. When they were out of the palace, kh. Han told Jang Geum to buy ducks for cooking. She bought the ducks and was on her way back. And we stop there.

S. Choi asked Linglu since she had read the recipe book, if she remembered what the last date in the book was. Linglu said she wasn't so sure but she thinks it was during the party of the kitchen head before kh. Zheng. S. Choi gasped and now she was sure it was Min Yi's recipe book and that Jang Geum was the daughter.
S. Choi went to talk to Jin Ying and told her of Min Yi. She said that she was putting some poison into the food and Min Yi had saw it. That's why she had to kill her. S. Choi told her Jang Geum was Min Yi's daughter and Jin Ying was shocked. S. Choi said that Jang Geum can never find out what happened and kh. Han also cannot find out about Jang Geum's identity.
Meanwhile, the king found out about the waste of stocks and got angry. Jung Ho was working with kh. Han on the investigation of the stocks. S. Choi and his brother found out and wanted to kill him. Jin Ying found out and went to warn Jung Ho. Jung Ho said that he would do what was right, even if he was kicked out of the palace. Jin Ying then said that she knew that Jung Ho bought a brush for Jang Geum and she would tell about this if he didn't back out of the investigation. Jung Ho will be de-ranked and Jang Geum would be sentenced to death. She knew that Jung Ho would stop because he didn't want to risk Jang Geum's life.
The next day, Jung Ho informed the officer that he would be transfering back to his old department and working somewhere else. Jang Geum asked why and he said that he just wanted to.
Kh. Han had a meeting with the supervisors and showed them the stock records. She told them that they should know what this is but she will forgive them. She will give them one more chance and if it happens again, she will not forgive them. The supervisors were very grateful and thanked her. (A brilliant tactic)
After that, Jang Geum reported to kh. Han that the stocks have decreased. Jang Geum told kh. Han that she hasn't been cooking for two months. Kh. Han knew what she meant but said that she still had to continue with her job because the two months weren't up yet. After that, she can go back to cooking. Jang Geum was really happy.
Later, kh. Han was preparing some food and used the vinegar from Jang Geum's mother's pot to cook. She went to send the food and Jang Geum came in to the kitchen. She tasted it and she knew it was the vinegar her mum used. She asked the maids whose was it but they didn't know.
Meanwhile, Jin Ying told S. Choi to let her handle the Jang Geum and kh. Han situation. And we stop there.

Jang Geum went to the place where her mum had hidden a pot of vinegar under the ground and hid a message on it, saying that she was Jang Geum and her mum's daughter, hoping that her mum's best friend would find it. Jang Geum met Jung Ho and he told her that he has transfered to the investigation dept. She asked why and he told her that he needed to investigate something.
Meanwhile, everybody heard that kh. Han (kitchen head Han) was going to change the positions of the people in the kitchen and they were all worried. s. Choi went to see kh. Han and told her to transfer but to leave Jin Ying there because she still had a lot to learn.
So, kh. Han had a meeting with the people of the kitchen and transfered a few people including s. Choi. Everybody else still had the same positions. kh. Han said that she wanted to bring back a position that used to be here centuries ago. That position is to check the stocks that come in to make sure they're in the right quantity. She gave the position to Jang Geum.
Later, the supervisors were angry at kh. Han because they felt like she was revenging against them and bringing back the position was like spying on them. Jang Geum and kh. Han were talking and kh. Han asked if Jang Geum minded that she gave her the position. Jang Geum said that she would do anything that was ordered by kh. Han but was only worried that she would get bored checking stocks all day.
After that, when Jang Geum checked the stocks, she noticed that the stocks were too much. She told kh. Han and she reported it to the king's assistant and the supervisors. The supervisors said that they thought everybody used this amount. The king's assistant was appaled and said that he would investigate.
Later, the supervisors were angered that kh. Han was getting them in to trouble and decided to tell their boss. The boss said that she couldn't get involved in this but the supervisors said that she had to get involved in this because all the presents that were given to her came from the stocks. The boss went to s. Choi and asked for her help. s. Choi asked Jin Ying to spy on kh. Han and Linglu to spy on Jang Geum.
Jang Geum had put her stock records in a desk and she also hid her mum's recipe book in it. Linglu took them and brought them to s. Choi. s. Choi noticed the small recipe book but assumed that it was kh. Han's. She said that the record books weren't useful and to put it back.
Meanwhile, Jang Geum found that the books were missing and she was worried about her mum's recipe book. She asked Lian Shen but she said that she didn't take them. Lian Shen said that Linglu could have taken them. When Jang Geum went back to her room, she saw the record books were back on her desk and Linglu was standing there. She looked for her recipe book but it was missing. She asked Linglu about it but Linglu said that she knew nothing about it. Linglu had actually hid it under her sleeve because she wanted to know about the recipes.
Later, Linglu took out the recipe book to see and Lian Shen came and took it from her. They were both fighting for it when kh. Han appeared and asked what it was. She looked through it and looked shocked. It was actually her best friend's recipe book. She asked Linglu why she had it and she said that she had just found it under a tree.
Linglu told this to Jing Ying and s. Choi. They were both angry at her. Linglu told s. Choi that that book was not kh. Han's because she had no idea what it was. They wondered what it was when S. Choi suddenly realized what it was. And we stop there.

Dae jang geum - jewel in the palace: ep 29
So, one of the members of the royal family was having this party and the supervisors of each department were required to come and congratulate her. The supervisors of the kitchen dept. refused to go and s. Han ended up going on her own. They said that they would go if she quit from being kitchen head. The royal member was very unpleased with this and even the queen heard about the strike of the supervisors. The queen couldn’t punish the supervisors because there were too many. She started to seriously think of telling s. Han to step down from her position.
After much thinking, s. Han decided to quite her job and was going to tell the queen. Jang Geum came to advise her but s. Han said it was too hard to continue. Jang Geum then said that she had lost her parents when she was 8 and she still came to the palace to work. She loves s. Han like a mother. And if she goes to quit now, then Jang Geum never wants to see her again. They stood there for a moment, looking at each other, before s. Han went to see the queen.
The queen and the princess were discussing about s. Han when she came in. S. Han said that since the supervisors were against her because she didn’t participate in the cooking competition, she proposed that another cooking competition be held again. The princess advised the queen to accept this idea and so they agreed to do that. The queen let the princess judge this time. S. Han went outside and Jang Geum appeared and smiled at her.
A maid went to see s. Choi and told her that the queen wanted to see her and all the supervisors. S. Choi thought that s. Han had quitted her job and was a bit happy. When they got there, the princess announced that another cooking competition be held against s. Choi and s. Han and asked whether they both agreed. S. Choi was shocked by this but agreed to participate again and so did s. Han. The princess said that the winner of this competition will be the new kitchen head, and no one was allowed to be against her. They all agreed to this. The rule of the competition was to cook rice. The princess ordered that everybody except s. Han and s. Choi to leave the place.
When nobody noticed, Jin Ying sneaked into the kitchen and told a maid to hand something to s. Choi. She said to just hand it to s. Choi and she would understand. She had found the secret to cooking rice.
The rice would be judged by the supervisors and the one which they liked would be written on a piece of paper. When they tried it and wrote the answers down, the princess told s. Han and s. Choi to come in. A supervisor said that she liked the rice in the white bowl because it was very soft. A few others agreed to this. S. Choi smiled (evilly) to herself. The princess asked whose rice it was and s. Choi answered. Jang Geum became worried. The princess announced the results and the rice in the white bowl got 5 votes and the rice in the yellow bowl got 9 votes. It turned out that s. Han’s rice was liked better! A supervisor said that she liked it because it was hard. But then the princess said that her rice was soft. S. Han explained that she had made both kinds of rice because different people liked different kind of rice. The princess was very impressed by this and said that s. Han was very detailed. Even for a few people, she knew what food they liked. And so s. Han won! The princess said told the supervisors that they had to listen to s. Han now since she won the competition fair and square. The supervisors were reluctant but agreed.
Later, s. Han and Jang Geum went to the mountains where they scattered the ex-kitchen head’s ashes and talked for a while. After that, Jang Geum asked her if they could go somewhere else. They went to visit Jang Geum’s mother’s grave. S. Han said that her mum must have been beautiful.
s. Han was officially appointed kitchen head the next day and the supervisor bowed to her. S. Han served food to the king and he enquired why she has not been visiting him. S. Han answered that she had been visiting the ex-kitchen head’s grave. The king nodded and said that s. Zheng (ex-kh) used to tell him stories. He asked if s. Han could do that and s. Han said that s. Zheng sometimes came to see s. Han to ask for more stories. The king laughed and said that he found her more funny than s. Zheng. S. Choi looked on in anger. And we stop there.

Dae jang geum - jewel in the palace: ep 28
They had a banquet to celebrate s. Han as the new kitchen head but nobody came. The supervisors were on a strike, saying that it was unfair that she won since she didn’t even participate in the competition. They asked their boss to talk with the queen. The ex-kitchen head was appalled by this and went to confront them. They refused to co-operate with her and she fainted out of weakness.
The supervisors sent their boss to talk with the queen and she said she agreed that it was unfair that s. Han is the new kitchen head but because it was ordered by the king, she could not do anything about it.
The ex-kitchen head was going to move out of the palace now since they already have a new kitchen head. Lian Shen, Jang Geum and s. Han were reluctant to let her go. Jang Geum recalls when she was young, and how she met the ex-kitchen head. The ex-kh was the one she always went to when she was frustrated with s. Han and she would always advise her. S. Han wanted to accompany the ex-kitchen head out of the palace but she banned her, saying that she had a lot of work to do as the new kitchen head. S. Han watched her go with tears in her eyes, and told Lian Shen and Jang Geum to accompany the ex-kitchen head and make sure she was not alone.
Jang Geum and Lian Shen took care of the ex-kitchen head while back at the palace, the supervisors would not allow s. Han to serve the food to the king. The king enquired why he did not see the ex-kh, and they told him that she had already moved out of the palace. The king ordered to send her a doctor, it was the least he could do for her. But when the doctor came to check on her, she was already dead. When s. Han got the news, she fell to the ground and cried.
After that, s. Han seemed to have given up hope. When Jang Geum and Lian Shen came back, s. Han was just standing in the rain and not doing anything. There were lots of fruits on the tables and the maids told her that the supervisors refused to work with s. Han. Jang Geum told s. Han sternly to get back to work but s. Han refused to listen. Jang Geum and Lian Shen decided to do the work and asked the maids and the little children to help them. They had managed to finished cooking the food and Ling Lu reported this to s. Choi.
Later, the guards reported to s. Han that the storage room was leaking and the food was getting spoiled. S. Han and Jang Geum worriedly went to take the food out but the guard was actually lying. The supervisors were having a meeting with the king’s helper and they were discussing about preparations and stuff. The helper wondered why the menu and stuff hadn’t been done yet and why s. Han was not there. He went to look for s. Han and found her moving the food. He yelled at her, ‘why are you doing this?! Where are the maids? Why aren’t you at the meeting?’ s. Han didn’t know about the meeting and realized that she had been conned.
s. Han felt defeated and returned to her room. Jang Geum became worried about her and told her to write the menu. And we stop there.

i went to watch the movie, the phantom of the opera on saturday...didn't really like it...the songs are nice..after all, it is Andrew Lloyd Webber...but it was kinda boring for me...the singing is ok...it isn't exceptional but it's ok...the guy who plays Raoul is not cute at all..i mean, in the book, they describe him as handsome and stuff but he didn't fit at all...one thing i liked was the guy who played the phantom...though his singing was not wonderful, i loved his portrayal of phantom...and he's way cuter than Raoul, even with half his face ugly...his character was really sad...just thinking that he never had any love or compassion...it made me cry...i wanted him to end up with christine...haha....anyway, i didn't watch the musical but i have read a short version of the book for school..it was quite different from the book...for one thing, they didn't have the Persian man, my favourite character...and the plot in the movie was quite speeded up compared to the book... the movie didn't give the phantom a lot of scariness...and it was far too dramatic...when the phantom appears or something scary happens, suddenly there'll be the phantom tune playing, like really loud...DAM DAMDAMDAMDAM DAAAAAMM...i mean, everybody was laughing...and one part where Raoul was taken hostage by the phantom and they were both singing, OMG, it was so damn hilarious...seriously, everybody was laughing...overall, an ok show...but it's way better to watch the musical..or perhaps, older versions of the movie...
after that, me and my sisters went to my grandmother's house to celebrate christmas with my cousins...had a good time...got a few presents...my family isn't christian but we still like to celebrate christmas...well, my whole country likes to celebrate chrstmas, though most of us aren't christian...we like any excuse to celebrate and have a feast...anyway, there were a whole lot of food prepared...the turkey was delicious...however, the spaghetti was not..i mean, it was good..but i've tasted better...i luv spaghetti but that one didn't have a lot of flavour...
anyway, school is gonna start next week......sigh, so quickly the holiday passes...why did the government have to start school so quickly?!..aargh, it's freaking damn annoying...and both my sisters are gonna go overseas to study...i'll be all alone at home...i feel so depressed...one good thing is that, i FINALLY get to have the comp all on my own...but there'll b no one to talk to or laugh together...xcept for my lil bro n sis...but u know, they're only 3 and 4...sigh...

Dae jang geum - jewel in the palace: ep 27
There were still 2 more courses to be served and then dessert. The queen liked the 2 last ones made by Jang Geum because even though the ingredients were not very grand, she could still make it delicious. S. Han had managed to get back to the palace but seeing Jang Geum cooking so well, she decided to let Jang Geum continue. The dessert made by Jang Geum was wild strawberries. The queen was surprised why she made this and the princess asked her why. Jang Geum said that it was the last food she fed to her mother before she died. It was the only food that her mother could eat as she was dying. She told the king that she made it as a reminder to him to treat his people fairly. Everybody was very touched by her story and the king said that she was truly the best cook in the palace. The queen was a bit shocked by this and said ‘well since the king already said that, I have nothing more to say.’ They decided to let s. Han win the competition since she had such a good pupil, so she must be a good cook! Later, s. Han and Jang Geum had a moment together where they hugged and cried. After that, Jung Ho came to congratulate Jang Geum and told her that he had captured the person who kidnapped s. Han. The prisoner was being questioned. The next day, Jung Ho went to ask about the prisoner but they told him that the prisoner was freed. Jung Ho was a bit shocked and asked why he was let go since he kidnapped s. Han. They said to him that s. Han just got on the wrong boat. Jung Ho went to investigate this with Dejiu but he said that he had made sure it was the correct boat before letting s. Han get on. (Obviously somebody’s been covering up.) Later, the kitchen was preparing for the official appointing of s. Han as the new kitchen head. S. Han went to visit the ex-kitchen head who was becoming weaker by the moment. The ex-kitchen head advised her and told her to be strong. S. Han, with tears in her eyes, wanted to bow to her but she stopped her, saying that it’s bad luck bowing to a sick person. And we stop there.

s. Han went to get the 'dong zhong' ingredient from Dejiu. After she got it, she went on a boat to get back to the palace. Dejiu remembered that she forgot to pay him, and he turned back to stop her but saw her being captured by the people on the boat and the boat turning direction. Dejiu went to report this to Jung Ho and Jung Ho quickly went to save s. Han.
Meanwhile, Jang Geum is preparing for the cooking competition but s. Han was not back yet. Ling Lu spied on her and reported it to s. Choi. S. Choi reported this to the boss of the kitchen and they all discussed together about what they were gonna do. Jang Geum begged to cook in place of S. Han until she arrives back. S. Choi didn't want to let her cook but after discussing with Jin Ying, decided to let her cook since it would seem more fair. It was actually S. Choi's brother who kidnapped s. Han but s. Choi didn't know that he did that until Ling Lu reported to her.
They were supposed to prepare 5 courses for the royal family and the officers. The first and second course of s. Choi's was nicer but the 3rd course was won by Jang Geum because she used her mum's secret ingredient which she dug out of the ground. She knew about it from reading her mum's recipe book (which was also kind of a diary).
Meanwhile, s. Han was confined in a room but when she tried to open the door, she discovered that it was actually unlocked. So, she quickly ran out and just at that moment, Jung Ho and his guards arrived to save her. They escorted her back to the palace while others searched the place for the people who kidnapped her.
Back at the palace, the 4th course was again won by s. Choi. Jang Geum was getting increasingly worried and wondering why s. Han had not returned yet. One of the maids came and told Jang Geum that she got a message from Dejiu's wife, saying that s. Han was kidnapped. And we stop there.
